A project to support kinship care families
Across the UK there are many thousands of children and young people being cared for by family members – kinship carers.
Reliable estimates suggest that more than half of kinship carers are looking after children because of parental drug and alcohol problems.
We lead projects to identify the different needs of kinship care families and the ways in which carers and children can be better supported in the community.
About the project
This project builds emotional resilience of carers and better kinship care family relationships. The project is structured to result in a sustainable, evidenced-based intervention to improve relationships and resilience in kinship care families, a model that can readily be adopted by all local authorities.
